Petition to add Hindi to Howard County Public Schools (HCPSS)

We need your help! Bring change to HCPSS

We have started a petition to add Hindi to Howard County Public School System's World Language Program. In Howard County, the largest ethnic group is from the Indian subcontinent. Nearly 18% of Howard County speaks Hindi or a related language. There are many benefits to learning Hindi, including helping to enhance cognitive skills and giving Indian kids an opportunity to connect to their roots. Learning Hindi enables learning other related languages as well – Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Oriya etc. which are also spoken in Howard County in numbers. PLEASE SIGN AND SHARE THE PETITION   & SHARE THE LINK WITH YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS:  http://chng.it/VKtWNtdbnx

Meet & Greet with the HoCo Police Chief

On February 27th, ICA was proud to hold a meet-and-greet session with Howard County’s first female and first African-American Police Chief, Lisa Myers. The meet was informal and conversational, giving members of the community an opportunity to voice their concerns, exchange ideas, and offer suggestions to help the Police Chief recognize new goals as she entered her new position.

We were able to discuss issues relating to immigration and ICE, domestic violence, outreach, diversity, and engagement, as well as ways we can help the police force. Thanks for joining us for an evening packed with information, resources, and great conversations.

Upcoming: Hands-Only, CPR, AED & Narcan class on April 27th, 1:00pm-2:30pm

Sign up to attend a Hands-Only CPR, AED (automated external defibrillator) & Narcan class and learn how to save the life of someone in cardiac arrest and Opioid overdose. SPREAD THE WORD! Tell your family, friends, and co-workers about it.

We thrive on community and collaboration. As a dynamic organization, we invite you to help us grow and support our work in a variety of ways. We are always more than happy to explore new partnerships with other organizations, institutions, companies, groups, and individuals.

ICA NEWS
Our Chaat Party was a huge success!

On February 9th we greeted our community in the traditional Indian style, with masala chai and delicious chaat. Many thanks to our Sponsors:

Advanced Hearing Group, SETO & Namaste Foodie! We met and chatted with our community while enjoying multiple bowls of addictive and scrumptious chaat. We had a great turnout and were so happy to see so many new and familiar faces. We witnessed old friends meeting after months, new people meeting and connecting for the first time, and families coming together to simply enjoy a bowl of chaat.
